Artful Moments

Artful Moments is a guided tour program designed specifically for seniors. These tours will offer a relaxed, accessible way for older adults to engage with the Vernon Public Art Gallery’s exhibitions. Tours will be paced gently, with seating and conversation encouraged throughout. The experience will emphasize connection—both to the artwork and to fellow participants. These tours aim to foster social engagement, stimulate curiosity, and make the gallery a welcoming space for seniors in our community.

OPTIONS FOR TOURS

Self-Guided Tour (Flexible)

Explore the gallery at your own pace with a self-guided tour. These visits allow you to enjoy the current exhibition independently or with your group, without a formal guide. A printed or digital exhibition guide—featuring background on the artworks, artist information, and suggested discussion prompts—is available by request. Gallery staff will be on hand to welcome your group and answer any questions before you begin.

Guided Tour – Tour Only (45 minutes)

Guided Tour + Workshop (75-90 minutes)

This program includes a guided tour of the current exhibition followed by a hands-on activity related to the techniques, concepts, and works of art discussed during the tour. It’s a chance to experience art-making with a variety of media while reinforcing ideas introduced in the exhibition. Activities may include drawing, painting, printing, mixed media, sculpture, or collage, and are designed to be accessible and engaging for all skill levels.

Exhibition Guide

This is an in-depth booklet containing background information about the artist, exhibition, related vocabulary and suggested pre/post visit activities. It is intended to be a teaching tool used to enhance the experience and to extend the learning outcomes covered within the gallery tour. The guide is provided to any scheduled tour.

Explore the exhibitions, engage with interactive activities in the Gallery, and create your own art inspired by the artwork on display.

Customized tours and workshops are available and can be developed to explore topics and techniques that are particularly relevant to your group.

• All cancellations must be made at least 2 weeks in advance
• Payment is due upon arrival with Visa, MasterCard, cash or cheque (payable to the Vernon Public Art Gallery)
